Unfortunately, our Mom became quiet ill a couple of years ago so our family (Dominguez-Moreno family of Big Spring, TX) will not be able to host this year's reunion. As I receive more data about which family is hosting it and where/when, I will certainly update the data here.
I want to take time on behalf of my siblings and our extended family to give thanks to the Lord for having allowed our Mom to finally find the doctors and specialists that she required in order to have a proper diagnosis made so that treatment could begin early enough because her health began to decline rather quickly. Long story short, it took my family and me going through a very lengthy process via our pathetic health-care system to get Mom to the doctors/clinics which would finally render her some real health-care assistance. Those who say our health-care system is fine, I would like to debate you in person because we found out so many things that are wrong with the system; more than we even knew was possible. Persistence pays off and the occasional annoying the heck out of government & medical offices.
Anyway...Mom's diagnosis was at last made by her Rheumatoid Arthritis Specialist in Midland, TX last year. Our Mom had/has a very rare but threatening illness called Dermatomyositis. It is difficult to describe and can be equally if not more difficult to manage as it is on-going, but thankfully Mom ended up with great doctors and treatment. Better late than never, but it still makes my family and me very indignant persons in that it took so long to discover and to diagnose. Everything began to fall into place once her RA figured out what was wrong. He started Mom on a very strict regimen of pills and such. For those who did not see Mom during her ordeal, it was rough - we missed you and needed so many of you, but I am sure you prayed for her - so thanks!

After almost 2 years, our awesome Mom is doing great. Although she is limited to doing certain things and is not allowed outdoors during inclimate weather (and no sun whatsoever), she still does things the best way that she can and continues on as the "pioneer woman" she has always been. Maybe a little slower, but still very dependable especially when the family (or close friends) need anything - ANYTHING - and she never asks for anything in return! Our Mom's blessings, prayers and presence are the best gift we could possibly have and for that we are truly grateful, and we try our best to take good care of her as well. Another good thing is that she stopped needing to use her walker late last year - right before her grand-daughter, Erica, got married (June13th, 2009). Yes, indeedy, Mom is 75 years young and we pray that God keeps her on this Earth with us all for a very long time and that we all continue in good health alongside her so that we may enjoy life as a family like God intended for us all to do.
